I was cruising through from Sacramento to the East Bay and stoped at Apothek Dispensary in Isleton, CA. I am friends with the owners and was looking forward to chatting with them, they are good people and have been working hard to build their micro-business. I was excited to see their new in-house brand and the different strain/cultivars they had ready for sale.
When I saw Lemon Cherry Gelato on the menu it was a no-brainer, and I think this company and this strain are a great first choice for trying out the whole tasting/review post.
This is my first tasting where I tried to take notes and explain what I experience so I will keep it short!
First impression:
The jar is sealed tight with shrink wrap, they weren’t playing around lol. No chance of air getting in there and ruining the chemovar of this harvest (chemovar is just the fancy word for the chemical mixture of terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids particular to this strain and harvest).
As soon as I cracked the seal I immediately smelled a strong sent of lemon pledge like mix of citrus, soap, and gas.
At first glance I see dark purple/green nugs with small sugar leafs still intact (which I love). Nice long red pistils and full intact trichomes coating every bit of the buds and stems.
I am very impressed with this 8th based on nose and appearance.
After Grind Impression:
Nice clean snap as I break the buds apart to put in the grinder. Grinds well doesn’t turn to dust like some others.
After grind nose: that bitter gassy ness really comes to the front after grinding. Turns to dank bitter gas with hints of citrus.
Packs and rolls easy.
Clean smoking, no bitter or lingering taste
Salt and pepper ash
High Review:
This high is quickly noticed; euphoric, eyes low, with a slight smile as I randomly stand in a corner writing this review lol
Lemon Cherry Gelato Strain Information:
Leafly says Lemon Cherry Gelato is a hybrid strain, crossed between Sunset Sherbet and Girl Scout Cookies (two absolute hitters in my book). I definitely agree with their associated effects of; giggly, talkative, and happy. The dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, which makes sense with one if its parents being GSC.
We have a full write up on the benefits of Caryophyllene in the weed library if you want to see the medical studies that have shown some pretty impressive results.
Caryophyllene has been shown to help your heart, liver, gut and also reduce inflammation and anxiety.
